What is Somatic Experiencing?
Somatic Experiencing is a body-based therapeutic approach developed by Dr. Peter A. Levine to treat the effects of acute and chronic traumatic stress. Working with the physiology of the autonomic nervous system, this experiential practice helps transform the psychobiological imprints of personal, ancestral, and cultural wounding.

What are the benefits?
The benefits of this work are wide reaching. By restoring homeostasis, flow and coherence in our body systems, we may find more energy, ease, clarity, and choice in daily life, By building embodied awareness and skills, we enhance our ability to lead creative and connective lives. Overall, this work helps us feel more alive and be in generative relationship with self and world.
How does it work?
We start with the body, meaning we work from your felt experience and what is present here and now. Unlike talk therapy that works with a cognitive scope, we begin with the primary language and stories of the body. Sessions may involve touch, movement, sound, breath and awareness of self as a whole, living organism. Sessions can also include somatic education and coaching, depending on the needs of the client.
